Listen and learn how pros get the sounds that make the hits!
Listen to sensational music from dynamic electro-house producer, Wolfgang Gartner (aka Joey Youngman) and learn how he did it all with IK's "Powered by SampleTank" software. Read how he gets the bangin' Nu-Disco house sound that rocks today's dance floors in the style of Justice, daft Punk, Sebastian and more, just by using IK's Total Workstation 2 Bundle (SampleTank, Sonik Synth 2, SampleTron, SampleMoog and Miroslav Philharmonik).
Every sound in this demo was made using SampleTank, Sonik Synth 2, SampleTron, SampleMoog and Miroslav Philharmonik.

1) Bassline – SampleMoog. I used a preset from my Wolfgang Gartner bank called "Fidget Bass," and just took off the pitch envelope that I'd put on it. This is what played the main bassline. There was another square wave bass tone underneath the main bassline which I did in Sonik Synth with a preset called "Arp Alb02 BRS" – I just played 1 note and put a Crusher, EQ, and Lo-Fi on it.
2) Piano – This was a sound from Miroslav Philharmonik called "Concert Grand Lite" – I played an octave of one note and compressed the heck out of it / put a Cabinet effect on it in SampleTank.
3) Strings – The sting note that occasionally comes in playing quarter notes was a sound in Miroslav Philharmonik called "Drama To the End" – I didn't even tweak this one, just straight from the preset.
4) Chords – The chord progression that comes in during the breakdown was a preset in SampleTron called "Orchestron Flute LP" – I also didn't even touch any settings here. There is also an organ that comes in a bit later playing the same chord progression over the Tron, this is a preset in SampleTank called "Organic" – the only way I modified this sound was by adding the "Tone" effect into the chain which already had a nice rotary on it.
5) Guitar – there is one "power chord" that comes in on the first beat of the loop, to accent the downbeat. This was a preset in Sonik Synth 2 called "Fuzz Guitar" and I didn't change any settings at all.
6) Synth – there is another synth playing over the bassline during the "peak" of the demo to add excitement and energy – it just plays the same notes as the bassline. For this I used a preset in Sonik Synth called "001 Abcab Dabra Ld" and put a crusher and chorus on it to give it some width and grit.
7) Bells – there's 1 note from a bell that hits every once in a while, this was an unaltered preset from SampleTank called "Bells Misc 03."
8) At the beginning of the song, there's a long reversed piano note which is a preset in Sonik Synth 2 appropriately titled "Reverse Low Pno Note." I upped the attack on this a bit so the beginning of the sample was less noticeable.
9) There's a strange laser-type effect that comes in toward the middle of the track at the end of each phrase, this is a sound effect from Sonik Synth called "002 Hit Asnz12." I put a Lo-fi effect and some reverb on it.
10) The sound effect that hits every 16 measures on the downbeat and at the very end of the track is a preset in Sonik Synth, also unaltered, called "022 Space Buggy."
