In this deep-dive history lesson, guitarist and educator Ayla Tesler-Mabé explores eight of the most influential electric guitar and bass amps ever made.
Rather than just talking about tone, Alya brings each amp to life using IK’s TONEX Plug, demonstrating how modern Tone Models can authentically capture not only the sound, but the feel of legendary amplifiers.
What you’ll learn in the video:
- How the Fender Bassman helped launch amplified rhythm sections
- Why 1965 became the golden year for Fender studio amps
- The tonal differences between American and British amp design
- How the Marshall Plexi defined the sound of arena rock
- Why master volume circuits changed high-gain tone forever
This little thing honestly has some of the best amp simulation tones I’ve ever heard.
The recreation of not only the amp’s tones, but how it feels acoustically in the room, is among the best I’ve heard from any modeling technology.
