"I think the ARC 2 is a very sophisticated room/speaker adjustment package, but given how low cost it is... the measurements I experienced weren’t far off the mark, and the easy set-up process really couldn’t be more straightforward."
Alan Branch is a UK based producer who has worked with some of the most notable musicians and bands in the world including Jeff Beck, U2, Sinead O'Connor, Blur, Nine Inch Nails and many others. He was asked by Audio Media, the magazine for the audio professional, to take an in-depth look at ARC System 2.
His review appeared in the March 2013 issue of Audio Media. Here are some of his comments:
"I must admit to being very sceptical of even the idea of the ARC 2 being useful, having experienced troublesome monitor EQ in various new studio builds... But, if you have a room with acoustic treatment but still need some help sorting out the sound, ARC 2 could help provide a flat loudspeaker response at your listening position."
"I was impressed, though, at how efficient this system was and how easily adjusted – resetting a new set of measurements for a larger listening area including a back sofa produced a very different curve and managed to remove a boominess I had often heard when sitting at the back of the studio even though my layout is very small."
"I think the ARC 2 is a very sophisticated room/speaker adjustment package, but given how low cost it is... the measurements I experienced weren’t far off the mark, and the easy set-up process really couldn’t be more straightforward."
"No adjustment by ARC 2 will improve a room much with poor acoustic treatment, but it may well help those that are suffering from poor speaker performance or odd room characteristics that are producing tonal anomalies making mixing difficult."
And Alan's final conclusion is:
"... for the money, the ease of use, and the sophisticated R&D behind it, the ARC2 might just help find the solution to those suffering from troublesome hit and miss mix results."
