Troubleshooting: No Audio or Sound Output with AmpliTube iOS?

If you're getting no sound output from AmpliTube, chances are you may have inadvertently enabled a function or setting that is blocking the audio output in the app.

Let's try the following steps:

  • In Loop Drummer, go to MIX (Fader Icon) and make sure SOLO is not enabled.
  • In the iOS settings on iPad or iPhone, go to Restrictions, which is under the General tab. Go to microphone and make sure you do not have any restrictions on for AmpliTube.
  • Also in the iOS settings, go to Privacy and select microphone. Make sure it isn’t restricting use with AmpliTube.
  • Continued in iOS Settings, click on Accessibility. Scroll down until you see the option for MONO AUDIO. Make sure to set Mono Audio to OFF.
  • In AmpliTube, click on MENU then click on SETTINGS. If the iRig hardware is connected properly, the input will be automatically listed as: "Input: Digital Audio" or "Input: Headset Jack" at the top of this page.
  • You should also see the Input meter showing activity when you play your guitar.  IF you do not see Digital Audio or Headset Jack, continue troubleshooting here
  • Make sure to turn the volume up on the iPad itself. Sometimes the iPad or iPhone will automatically turn the volume down when it detects an input device.
  • In the Tools (Tuning Fork Icon) page, if you have the Tuner ON button lit, try turning it off. Same with the "Mute" button on the Tuner section - if it is lit, turn it off.
  • Go to the RECORDER page. Make sure to always have a track record enabled - you will see a small button beneath the VU meter for each available track. Click on the button and make sure the red light is on to hear your guitar input.
  • Check to see if you have the "M" (mute) button clicked on any of the available tracks. This will mute the track and not allow you to hear any sound. Check also to see that the "S" (solo) button is clicked on any of the tracks. This will "solo" the track, and not allow any of the other tracks to output sound. Deselect any "M" or "S" buttons to see if it helps.
  • If you hear your guitar, but can't hear your FX, make sure the FX button in the REC page is enabled. In the REC page, you will see a small button with a red light on the bottom for each available track. Make sure the button is pushed and the red light is on for the same track that you have record-enabled.
  • In MENU>Settings, make sure "No Feedback" is set to ON if you have headphones connected. If no headphones are connected, set it to OFF.
