Michael Nielsen of Big Harry Guitars perfectly demonstrates this concept. His opening song includes layered guitar parts that he isolates so we can hear the individual Tone Models. He then plays through each of the 25 Tone Models from the Alex Lifeson Legacy collection. Have a look.

I'll break down how I did some of these layers in the opening song because that's really what this collection is about. There are some big meat and potato sounds, and then there are all of these cool layering sounds.

All of the captures are focused on the mid-range, which makes sense because Geddy's bass takes up all the bottom and some of the top, and then Neil's drums are kind of everywhere. So Alex has to hold down that mid-range.

Each amp has one or two meat and potato sounds. I'm guessing that's Alex's primary tone, and then there are other cool overdub sounds in there. So, there's lots of fun stuff in this.
