In fact we owe our existence to Brazilian music. Without Brazil, there would be no IK Multimedia. In the spirit of gratitude, we’ve now launched a Portuguese language version of our website and released the original re-mastered version of our GrooveMaker line for iPhone and iPad.
IK Loves Brazil.
In fact we owe our existence to Brazilian music. Without Brazil, there would be no IK Multimedia.
Back in 1996, when IK was just a tiny multimedia studio with a handful of people, we fell in love with Brazilian music and we had an idea: we decided to use software to build a virtual percussionist. Using algorithms, we made a program that let people create their own great-sounding and realistic rhythmic grooves from hundreds of pre-made percussive loops. That program was a proto-version of what would one year later become GrooveMaker, our patented loop-remixing software — a program that still exists and remains popular today.
Given that we had access to a community of excellent Brazilian musicians and percussionists, we decided to record them to build a virtual “batucada.” That product was called AXE, and it was a great innovation for its time. AXE and GrooveMaker were two of the first musical products that put IK Multimedia on the course to what we’ve become today.
That's why we Love Brazil.
18 years later, now that we’ve changed how millions of musicians around the world make music everyday, we want to honor our roots and thank Brazil for all that it has allowed us to do. In the spirit of gratitude, we’ve now launched a Portuguese language version of our website and released the original re-mastered version of our GrooveMaker line for iPhone and iPad.
Obrigado Brazil.
