GarageBand won't authorize, but stand-alone does? (RESOLVED)

This could be due to the fact that GarageBand uses a sand boxed environment. While we are in contact with Apple about this, without going into too much detail, the solution below should get you going.

First, go ahead and check if a stand alone instance of your application is authorized properly.

If you're unsure how to authorize, try the steps below:

  1. Open IK Product Manager
  2. Log in, select Manage My Products, and you'll be in the Software tab
  3. Find your product in question (For example AmpliTube 5) and to the right of the product name use the Authorize button
  4. Stand-alone should now be authorized properly.

Next, go ahead and check if GarageBand is still not authorized, and if so, please follow these steps below to kick-start your authorization:

  1. Open two Finder windows.
  2. In the first window go to this location, or the Preferences folder for GarageBand*: /Users/[YOUR USERNAME]/Library/Containers/com.apple.garageband10/Data/Library/Preferences
  3. Next, in the second window, go to this location or your currently logged in user Preferences folder*: /Users/[YOUR USERNAME]/Library/Preferences
  4. Now, find the file associated with your app (For example, "com.ikmultimedia.AmpliTube 5.plist"
  5. Drag & drop this file from your second window (the current user's Preferences) to the first window (the GarageBand sand boxed Preferences).
  6. Close/reopen GarageBand and you are good to go!

*These folders are in the User Library, not your System Library. To find this location use the Finder Go drop down and hold "Alt" (Option) on your keyboard to allow for this location to appear in the list.

If you continue to have any issues, please let us know in your response to this email what happened exactly.
