Precision MTM at the Super Bowl

Usher’s FOH engineer talks about mixing the halftime show with iLoud monitors

In this segment, IK's Derrick Floyd interviews front-of-house engineer, Kyle Hamilton who shares his experience using iLoud Precision MTM studio monitors to pre-mix Usher's Super Bowl halftime show. Kyle has worked with some of the best artists in the business: Rihanna, Janet Jackson, Earth Wind and Fire, and Prince, to name a few.

Watch as he explains what he likes most about IK's studio monitors and how he used their emulation of other playback systems to achieve the perfect mix for this epic event.

It was a cheat code so to speak. I used a few of the presets like a 49-inch screen TV and even a phone.

I went back and forth touching those different parameters to make sure that the balance of the show would translate over the airwaves.

For a nearfield, MTMs do exactly what you're looking for... the pinpoint accuracy up close and the imaging that I got from them gave me a chance to explore and make sure that we were in the right ballpark.
